I recently overheard a teacher conversation with a student in the hallway. It had to do with a particular physical characteristic the student had. I was embarrassed by the particular comment. It had to do with a particular hairstyle the child had which was not against the student handbook. The student's hair is a problem at times, and the parents had to style it in a particular manner otherwise it could cause other problems. Afterwards, the student felt awful and decided not to return to the particular school. During times like this, it does make me want to comfort the child in situations like this. There is a good approach to this in situations like this to remind the child that another student or even a teacher can get jealous with a particular style and probably happened then.
