Moving is never easy and especially when children are involved. It becomes even more difficult when you have a disabled or special needs child. I am not saying it is impossible on finding a great new location, but it is possible.
- You need to request to transfer your child's Special Education file. It is separate from the child's school records.
- Check with your new local support group through a national organization about the local public schools. They can help you find the right school district for your child.
- Become familiar with local medical and therapy service providers. Your new local support group can help you with this.
Moving is never easy. However, when you keep track of these three things, it can make it easier for you and your family.
